announced at work today

No names yet but it has been offically announced they will happen. Out of a work force of 40 odd people, there could be as many as 15 sent packing rumour has it!

Now just gotta wait n hear who and when. Nothing to do but...

Smile n wave boys, smile n wave :)

fingers crossed that you are not on that list then mate  We have just made 2 people redundant and more may follow - it's not an easy decision to make but has to be done to keep the company going :(

Cheers peeps

We are already on a 32hr week but apparently it just aint working out.

At least i live within a mile of my parents and if it should all go to pot then at least i have the option of giving up my house and going back there. Would just piss me off paying a mortgage for two years for nothing!!

Oh well, what will be will be. Looks like i have finally netted the girl ive fancied rotten for 8 months so i got a good reason to smile :D

If you think of the cost of opening another factory / Office paying a little bit of overtime is well worth it from a companies point of view.

This recession is not getting any better, i've had to go back to my roots and take on Mechanical work ........... even though i have a bad back which will probably make my life difficult and leave me in pain !!!

Hope your not one of the few having to go and watch the back stabbers who will do anything to keep their jobs

sorry to hear that mate, hopefully you won't be one of them. And weve got the government to thank for this. And instead of getting us out they are digging us deeper. Spoke to people who have been in business for years and they are struggling.

Well chuffed for you mate :ykt: but as one of the people that have to make that sort of decision, I can assure you it ain't easy for the management either. Last time i had to do it I could barely sleep for weeks. Having someones livelyhood in your hands is something that no amount of training can prepare you for

TBH mate, i dont feel sorry for the Manager who had to do it. He is a right c*** to everyone. Its nice to see him upset for a change. Some of his finest moments include...

Telling one employee that he couldnt attend his mothers funeral due to an urgent job for Lola

Shouting in the face of a part time 'retired' employee who refused to do overtime one evening due to outside work commitments 'You dont have a life outside of work!'

Giving a verbal warning to one employee who turned up for work at 11am instead of 8am, even though he had worked 23hrs straight the day before (leaving at 7am) to get an urgent job out for him.

Giving one employee (me) a written warning for being 10 mins late for work a week after bringing my baby daughter home (babies love keeping you up all night!). Only reason he knew i was late, he was 10 mins late for work as well. His excuse...someone set fire to a car outside his house and the fire crew woke him up so he got up late

I work at EWS Toton, although the redundancies are not there, only at technical and admin grades, although i fully understand the reasons for the reductions, and in no way blame my Company or any others. each member of staff costs around say £30,000 to employ, three is a hundred grand, 33 is a million pounds a year, just in wages!
