stevepeanut Posted March 15, 2009 Report Posted March 15, 2009 I need a pic of the out dip stick tube in place on the engine, the tube has a metal tab coming off it with a hole in the end, if I could see where that fixes to the car it would be a big help
Mad Mex Posted March 15, 2009 Report Posted March 15, 2009 fixes to the inlet manifold, where the throttle linkage bar for the twin choke attaches, jus taken mine off....
stevepeanut Posted March 15, 2009 Author Report Posted March 15, 2009 thats the only place where there is a spare hole to bolt it to, but when the dipstick is in place, the tab points the other way, so doesnt line up anywhere near it. Really need a pic to see how this works
Mad Mex Posted March 15, 2009 Report Posted March 15, 2009 pretty sure the tab spins round m8, cant help with pics coz no head on my car at the moment
stevepeanut Posted March 15, 2009 Author Report Posted March 15, 2009 mex, the little half inch long tube that pokes out of the engine, that the dipstick tube slides onto. any idea how that comes out? wether it screws out or pulls out?
stevepeanut Posted March 15, 2009 Author Report Posted March 15, 2009 pulls out .. although it will be tight cheers
stevepeanut Posted March 16, 2009 Author Report Posted March 16, 2009 bumpy bump surely someone on this site has a crossflow and can photo the dipstick tube where it bolts to the inlet?
escortwithsunroof Posted March 16, 2009 Report Posted March 16, 2009 just seen your distress call now this what your looking for? i know this engine has never been outta the mk2 nor the inlet been taken off, i know that for a fact 1600 GT auto with kickdown ive a block out the back if ya want pics a that? Or a front bowl sump from a cortina?
stevepeanut Posted March 16, 2009 Author Report Posted March 16, 2009 thanks for all the replys and the pics, basically, my dipstick tube has a very small tab welded on roughly halfway up, which sticks out and goes downwards at 45 degrees. I am missing this top bracket as seen in the pic which loops around the very top of the dipstick and bolts to the inlet. Panic over, there was a very good reason why mine wouldnt fix to the inlet
stevepeanut Posted March 17, 2009 Author Report Posted March 17, 2009 anymore pics u need? cheers for the offer but all sorted, just need to get another bracket or buy a second hand dipstick
