rusty mk2 Posted March 30, 2009 Report Posted March 30, 2009 OK so i have this problem. i blew up (it was slayers fault) the amp at work tonight. i have no idea about this sort of stuff so i need help replacing it. this is what we have we have a dab radio plugged into it and also that CD player. also needs output for at least 4 speakers any suggestions? eBay links? also must be as cheap as possible
over_head_cam Posted March 30, 2009 Report Posted March 30, 2009 Being a Technics there are probably some fuses inside that can be replaced
rusty mk2 Posted March 30, 2009 Author Report Posted March 30, 2009 no its proper dead it started to play funny noises then it popped and smelt of burnt wires then the room filled up with smoke i think the problem is it was designed to play spandau ballet not slayer
over_head_cam Posted March 30, 2009 Report Posted March 30, 2009 it's deffo an old one Any Amp (with 4 speaker outlets) will work, just get the most powerful one you can afford so it will not be straining ant moderate levels Also double check all your speakers and wires to make sure there are no problems (causing fire amd stuff) Like this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TECHNICS-NEW-CLAS ... 240%3A1318
rusty mk2 Posted March 30, 2009 Author Report Posted March 30, 2009 cheers i will keep an eye on that!
john_3.0s Posted March 31, 2009 Report Posted March 31, 2009 pop the lid off and lets have a look. a funny smell normally means a decoupling capacitor has gone somewhere and has shorted a power rail. easy (and cheap) to replace but may not fix it as its possible other damage was done
rusty mk2 Posted March 31, 2009 Author Report Posted March 31, 2009 ok i will take a look later when i go to work.
