lee_capri Posted April 18, 2009 Report Posted April 18, 2009 did you use the crossflow fly wheeland starter mate with back plate and a zetec clutch plate has this is how they are done
lee_capri Posted April 18, 2009 Report Posted April 18, 2009 oh yeh you did put oil in the box i take it
bozie Posted April 18, 2009 Author Report Posted April 18, 2009 i used i crossflow flywheel just been lightened and balanced by burtons crossflow starter and a clutch plate from burtons not sure what its from but they said it was the one for fitting a type 9. someone told me some type 9 boxes have a longer shaft that need cutting down ?
LEONMEX Posted April 18, 2009 Report Posted April 18, 2009 only the v6 boxes need a bit taking off the end. All capri & s1era type 9 pinto boxes are the same input shaft
lee_capri Posted April 18, 2009 Report Posted April 18, 2009 im not sure on the cutting down bit mate, you have to if you put a 2.8i box in that much i do know, did you cut the end down then
bozie Posted April 18, 2009 Author Report Posted April 18, 2009 ok thanks i can only think that there is something wrong with the box then
bozie Posted April 18, 2009 Author Report Posted April 18, 2009 no i didnt cut it down someone told me about it after i fitted the box
lee_capri Posted April 18, 2009 Report Posted April 18, 2009 oh i think im might know what it is what prop did you use has a type9 use's a shorter prop to a 4 spped prop and not all 4 speed prop's are sutiable mate has it with a granny once worth getting unger and seeing if the prop flange is clearing the box
bozie Posted April 18, 2009 Author Report Posted April 18, 2009 changed the prop to the shorter one. i just dont under stand whats wrong spent all day trying to figer it out im quite handie round the car iv had the engine and box out loads of times i just dont no whats wrong
lee_capri Posted April 18, 2009 Report Posted April 18, 2009 im unsure has well now daft question can you turn the engine backward's with the spanner
bozie Posted April 18, 2009 Author Report Posted April 18, 2009 not to sure but cant turn it forward when box in neutral but i was able to before the box was fitted. i tried putting it in gear and pushing the car a little just to see if it would turn the engine a little. but it didnt move at all so i removed the starter just in case it was jamed but no difference
lee_capri Posted April 18, 2009 Report Posted April 18, 2009 no try turning thr engine the other way see if it will move mate they say your not spose to but it wont do any harm, just to see if it move's
