Nik3100 Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 Im thinking of relocating my front indicators on my mk3 Capri Does anyone know if there are any restrictions on how low they can go? Im thinking of having them below the standard front bumper, not by too far be someone said that it may fail an MOT if they are below a certain height????
Mr Sam Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 dunno how illegal it is but to fill the holes on the bumper................you want a mk1 fiesta facelift bumper
Nik3100 Posted December 14, 2006 Author Report Posted December 14, 2006 a m8 of mine is a bit handy with a welder and has offered plate the holes for me but I will bear that in mind, cheers
emu Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 The indicators will fit snugly into the vent holes in the front panel. The outermost ones. Rather than welding up your front bumper cant you just swap the mounting brackets and use another rear one?
Nik3100 Posted December 15, 2006 Author Report Posted December 15, 2006 tis a good idea m8 but mine did have smaller indicators in anyway so Im not using the capri ones at all. Also my front bumber already has the brackets welded on so as to get rid if the bolts for the overiders. I'll get the holes plated over, and see what indicators suite the grills, if I get smoked ones they will blend in.
Nik3100 Posted December 15, 2006 Author Report Posted December 15, 2006 aha, just had a call from a m8 of mine who is now an MOT tester as far as he knows there is no limit as to where they go. For kit cars its down to an sva test but for standard cars he's never come across anything to suggest that a car can fail on indicators being too low
Tango Posted December 15, 2006 Report Posted December 15, 2006 Hi There Here is the relevant page from the MOT testers manual about indicators. No mention of height restrictions at all, so looks like you are ok!!
Nik3100 Posted December 15, 2006 Author Report Posted December 15, 2006 Brilliant, thanks Tango, your a star
