rare mk2 cortina

my mates just painting this for someone, just wondered if anyone can add to its hazy history, its apparently 1 of only 3 cars left from 1969 unleaded engine tests that ford ran that year, it has an unleaded engine and a few strange modifications, il describe them with the pics.

 

notice at the bottom of the rear quarter there is a lift down panel which the owner was told for a counter wheel that pulled out of the panel

has this id plate on the rocker cover, unfortunately my camera hasnt focussed well enough to read it.

 

can anyone shed any light on this car?

I have some info on this car and to be honest if wasnt for a BSC member telling me about this post I dont think i would have seen it...

 

Anyway... I was told about this a few years ago about 2003 from a member of the Mk2 oc she purchased from an engine designer at Dunton who had purchased the car, Internally from Fords, he had the car from 1970 through till 2002 and for the last 8 years of his ownership he kept it stored in his garage, where it slowly disintegrated. She got in sept 2002 and done a few bits to it. I also believe it is a GT estate as well, so quite rare anyway as these where SVO.

 

Here is some spec info i have on it:

 

Original Ford prototype 1969 1600 unleaded engine number three of three

Made. Escort Mexico brakes as fitted by Fords at Dunton test center in 1969 American body shell but fitted as a right hand drive by Fords Half American and half British interior as fitted By Fords Bottom rear off side quarter removable as used to store test equipment Rear arches not standard for Cortina made by Ford specific for this test car.

 

Hope this is some help to the new owner... if they wish to contact her I am sure i could put her in contact with them
