antz Posted June 3, 2009 Report Posted June 3, 2009 You may or not know that I am joining the redundancy gang in the near future.. Long story short is we were told in October that we were losing our jobs because the company we re-locating to India. It took them until Janurary to confirm we are going to be made redudant and then the Indians came over and we trained them to do our own jobs and then they went back and tried to do our jobs (wrongly). They only confirmed last Friday that we will be relieved of our employment on 31st July but until then we are to be backup for the indian guys when the work goes wrong. Basically checking their work and and sitting by the phone all day waiting for them to ring. What I don’t understand is they wont let me go because Im too valuable yet they don’t want me because Im too expensive to employ BUT Ive been sat at my desk since 8:45 this morning reading Retroford magazine cos I have no work to do what so ever and havent for the past 2 weeks! Im confused...
FredTransit Posted June 3, 2009 Report Posted June 3, 2009 It's a tough job, but somebody's got to do it! I would enjoy it whilst it lasts, as it obviously isn't going to. Are they allowing you time off to look for another job?
antz Posted June 3, 2009 Author Report Posted June 3, 2009 probably but there isnt any jobs in my area for my line of work...and the fact there are 13 of us all losing our jobs in the same dept so 13 of us all trying to get the same jobs which arent out there for us to fight over. but if i dont have a job when i do lose mine then ill take whatever comes my way.
