i've got to go and pic my boss's new 2.5 duratec up at the weekend, unsure of power and torque figures so far as its still being dyno'd hoping for around 330/340 bhp i believe  but its not built for max power, its still got to be a 'driveable' rally engine with torque all through the range

Going to need some rev's and 2.3's don't like to.......

Mountune and Cosworth road tuned 2.3's make 280 ish.

It will make amazing torque though - I've no doubt!

im unsure on the block/crank decisions that were made  but i know there were talks of a custom crank

Keep us posted and who's dyno it's run at  We'll keep an eye on the BMEP figure!

On Arrons rollers

He ploted a few more pinto graphs over it as well very interesting

Ickys was 1 bhp more

Turks 2.3 on slide was by far the best all round.

You know he can build a pinto

What capacity is your old mex?

Aaron alway's recon's a 2.3 pinto is the nicest pinto - TB's must help.....

You going back to N/A?

what does bmep actually mean :?

When the plug fires pressure is put on top of the piston by the petrol and air mixture. The pressure rises to a spike and then falls away as the piston returns down the bore.

The BMEP is the (Brake like the B in BHP) Mean Effective Pressure. So if you flatten out the spikey pressure curve you would get the average pressure exerted on the piston over the power stroke.

Turbo engines cannot be compared with N/A engines as they burn for longer so create long pressures and therefore high "Means" (Averages)

(Using lower compression ratios and retarded sparks)

If you google it you'll find stuff on it....probably explained better than I've just done

Yellow mexico is 2.2222 crossflow rods

Yep a ht 2.3 is not as "harsh" as a 2.2.

And on slide it revs from no throttle.

Mark fitting slide to the 2.2 soon

Would stroke play a part in the BMEP ... as the current F1 Engines are Limited to 40mm stroke, most going for a measured 39mm stroke so the dont break the rules when throwing the piston at 19,000 rpm .. just wondered as its half what a normal engine has .... and dont forget.. i only learnt that the crankshaft turns the ups and downs into the rounds and rounds a lil while ago .. :D

Good question mate - I don't profess to be an expert but I would have thought not a lot.

It probably does a bit and the rod to stroke ratio probably would too but einstein might need to get involved.

Give me an official bike statistic (CC and Hp @ Revs) and I'll plumb the numbers in.....they are similar to F1's in their stroke I think :?

my xe in the drift car is just over 2.3 (stroked and bored to 88 mm) , on a reputable dyno it made 274 bhp and 212 ft lbs.

Good numbers 8) - and realistic.

Just for interests sake what rev's was peek hp at? Dyno or RR?

that was on a dyno. as far as i remember peak power was at bout 7,700 or 7,800 i think. it revs out to 8,200

must get the print out again for a look.

indeed, i must run it on a RR sometime and see what readings it comes up with.
