  1. Absolutely spec will make a difference. In my experience, being an NGK fan, I would say.... NGK BP6ES for GT tune NGK BP7ES for faster road (i.e. Kent 234 Cam 10.5 compression) NGK BP8ES for Race / Rally There is a 9 available, I have never been there, but I know HT Racing make adapters so they can fit 9's in their Pinto's so there is an example of when you might need to be running 9's. Very high compression and high revs need cooler plugs. Your engine will be safer if you start with a cooler plug (higher number and work towards the lower number if they soot up - assuming your fueling / timing is correct)
  2. oi less of the old im nearly new You noticed! Your teeth and hips and knees might be new.
  3. Clever old Wayne!
  4. On alternators I've had the long screws that go the full length of the alternator, holding them together, shake loose. I've also had the belt tensioner link break, and the bolt at the water pump end of the tensioner strap come loose. Quick spanner check mate If it's a revver they can shake themselves to bits. The fact you say dynamo is not pointing to a high spec engine.... Dynamo pulleys are bigger than alternater pulleys as dynomos are less efficient so need to be higher geared. You may be revving it harder than designed if you've bolted it to a tuned lump.
  5. Lol - He could run it, judge it, score it, and write it up. No good if it's not on a DD dyno though - you know what the (his) rules are! We could bolt your lump in my mk1 ,he likes you puddy And I assume you'd look after it for me over the 10 years Ed speaks of! Thanks guys!!
  6. Ok mate - the offer is there. I have the set up you're talking about on mine, with the brolly, and it's never going to do handbrake turns!! Brakes are good though!
  7. Haa ,they lose more thickness thru rust than you would skim off of them imho. Chances of some one wearing out a set of rear discs on an osf are pretty slim as well ,lol. puddy True - rear discs don't wear very fast!
  8. Puddy's idea is a clever bit of lateral thinking, but I'd still do the shafts for 2 reasons. One, you're not waekening the disc, and two you only have to do it once, not every time you need replacement discs. Where are you based? It will only take an hour, tops, to do the shafts. I'd do them while you waited if you're local to gatwick. Toby

  10. It's already good, there's not many doing that mph. Once you stop breaking I'm sure you'll get it dialled in and warp speed.

    Very old mates
  12. Absolutely mate - and side valves are the new YB Yes Andy, we'll have to catch up next season Glad to hear you aren't "chopping".
  13. I know mate but you know what it's like, life just flys by. Works good and busy, so no time. Still got the wiring and insulating the garage to finish. To be fair, I've not seen yours out so much either. It looked good in the feature - have you been up to much with it?
  14. Thats great news mate, would be slightly embarrassing being beat by a fully trimmed road car!! Joe You've no worries mate, you'll be in the 11's by the time mines back on the road. I have allowed dome time in my 2 year schedule to come as see yours tearing it up!
  15. What's a tb? Nice photo BTW .

Is the answer in the question? I'm going 14.5 if you were lucky. How's me guess? When do we find out whoes the winner and what is the prize for closest guess? Can I have the little blue car in the video? 2nd prize, 2 x little blue cars ? puddy LOL Key board warrior! I think mine ran about 0.8 to 1 second slower at Brunters according to the questionable satalite. I guess you can only compare to the cars that are there that day with you...
  17. LOL Thanks everyone Nice pic's Dazza Not so nice ED! Puddy - Yeah I recon those police must have heard us coming from a mile away - or more. I'm not sure Richard likes it in the other seat! What's this nearly crap? It's more for straight lines! It will be back out - hopefully looking even better. The car not me - I am aging badly. Beginning to make little grunty noises when getting out of the arm chair! When did that happen? On a more serious note I've owned it for over 20 years now - I love it. I spent 10 years restoring it and the rest improving it. It was looking a bit sorry for itself so it's having a complete respray as there were micro blister coming all over it. I've built a new garage to keep it dry. As I seem to spend most of my time at work I recon it will be a couple of years before it's back out looking lovely again. Thanks again for the comments and pic's it makes me want to get it back together and wring the life out of it - as Ford intended!
  18. Don't you dare go chopping those inner wings about! How are you going to do the conversion? Have you got a plan? If you're not going to ruin your shell and have a conversion in mind I be interested - otherwise it will spoil my Christmas and Santa wont visit you!
  19. Don't worry about that mate - get some pics up - there's no snobs on here - just piss takers

Is the answer in the question? I have to say it looks fast, sounds fast, but was it fast? As you well know 100 foot of wheelspin in not great if you're racing the clock. I'm going 14.5 if you were lucky. How's me guess? When do we find out whoes the winner and what is the prize for closest guess? Can I have the little blue car in the video?
  21. On the rally escorts they widen the transmission tunnel to get the pipe up higher - it doesn't have to be a compromise - the rally cars are pretty strong! Anyway, how are you going to cruise around in a sleeper with a 3" exhaust, front and rear spoilers and a wing on the boot that would get a 747 off the ground? Next you'll be saying it's red with flames down the sides and wheels that touch in the middle!
  22. Good point! When I saw you'd replied I was a bit concerned you might have put a picture of a marshall up! Glad you didn't.
  23. Sounds interesting - have you got some pics? Puddy cut the floor out to make room for the saucey pipe on his - which sits lovely. Is that an option? I am personally not a fan of altitude!
  24. 2 is being greedy, i have the other one We should stop quoting this. It might be coming across as sexist.
  25. I think they would have to be Dark green if you are gonna wear those boots Toby puddy Lol I just want the stockings to get all my presents in. Obviously!
