  1. But you don’t need a working rear wiper if it’s fitted, mine passed yesterday and on the way to the mot my rear wiper jammed half way.
  2. Various parts which should fit a variety of classic fords. New Apec front brake pads to fit MK1 escort, ford capri, ford consul, ford cortina mk3 £10 New TCAs standard rubber bushes £20 Used hydramax rear shocks, good condition only removed for upgraded shocks. £20 2x good condition clutch friction plates, 1 marked up 1600 mk1 escort, 1 marked up as mk1 escort, £10 each Message for more details or if you want anything.
  3. well noticed, just looked myself, they have the other one for an extra 5 quid from 68 onwards, always got to be careful ordering panels, there is 3 different slam panels depending on year of the car.
  4. Wow that is a huge difference in price, cant say ive got anything from expressed but then personally wouldnt pay those prices, ive picked up a couple of the magnum panels through rally design, front floor pans and bonnet slam panel, strut top strengtheners and from offering them up they are perfectly fine for the job, couldnt say about the rear panel but with a 300 odd quid difference in price id personally expect the expressed panel to be perfect.
  5. Ive got access to lots of wiring tape and copex if needed haha, ill probably still use some of the original plugs, just asses the condition of them before i re use them, if not ill fit new connectors.
  6. Trust me i will certainly be asking questions haha, just got to get the car to my house, now that ive installed gates onto our rear yard, its been a while since ive worked on the old girl, plus lots of cutting and welding to do.
  7. Mine ideally needs a rewire which i will give a shot at myself, once youve worked on police cars an old banger like my escort will be a sinch haha.
  8. It will certainly be interesting when it comes into force, i can see a few people going out and getting pulled by the police for no MOT, "But officer its a classic car it doesnt need an MOT anymore" Ill take mine into work once ive got it fixed up, should be fun when i work in the police workshops haha.
  9. Just gonna add in the bit about road tax too as it says at the bottom of the article, mine has been claiming the free road tax for a couple of years now so its classed by the tax system as a classic vehicle already, so make of that what you will, its taxed as a classic so its mot is a classic to me, lots of loop holes and get out clauses trying to catch people out.
  10. The thing is there is no where that states that you have to get it checked out, it only suggests you get the opinion of a mechanic if your not sure, exactly as you say, how they know is yet to be determined, as i said i am a mechanic and i rightfully feel that my car is ok, other mechanics may think differently, this is gonna be a tricky thing for some owners and as you say it might catch a few people out.
  11. Its a difficult one to be honest, there is so many different rules and regulations about what is classed as a VHI, my escort has a 1600 xflow instead of its original 1300 crossflow, still an original engine though, brakes are m16 calipers, although new remanufactured parts, still ford fitments, my suspension ok is GAZ gha so thats not original, wheels are rs 4 spokes, not original to the car but original ford wheels. Im a mechanic by trade and to me my car is still an original mk1 escort, but to others its not. As for original body shells and all that crap, with the exception to some, how many people out there have got an unwelded original car with period panels, to me the panels being produced now are the same if somewhat better than ford produced back in the 70s. So many ins and outs of this. Ill be interested to see what other people say.
  12. Advertising on behalf of a friend. This car is in immaculate condition for its age and has only 38504 miles from new. Has had new wings and inner wings and front panel fitted but everything else is original, all glass has reg etched in and dash is not cracked. Has MOT till april 2018. £4000 O.N.O If you have any questions i will find out and get back as soon as possible.
  13. Saw this car today at kielder in Northumberland, great car, sounds amazing, and the seats inside were lovely and comfortable, nice bloke to chat too aswell.
  14. In my years with the air training Corp got to see some amazing things, standing under the bombing doors of the Vulcan at Southend airport during the air show, bloody massive, or being at a couple of parades and having a spitfire and hurricane do a low fly over the parade, really did give you goosebumps that sound.
  15. I'll have the stagea over that, got to admit my personal favourite though would be the rs6 avant
