paul capri Posted July 15, 2009 Report Posted July 15, 2009 okay well on the theme of restoring faith with my capri I though about treating her to an lsd. I do drive the car sideways as much as possible, any sign of rain and ill get in the car and go for a play. The local plod aren't too enthusiastic about it all, they gave me a section 59 last time, I fail to see how that works however, as they managed to drive straight past my mate who was facing the wrong way on the roundabout after having spun out, pulled me instead, and issued me the certificate! Anyway back to my point, I've been informed there are 2 types of LSD, plate type and helical. Apparently plate type are better for drifting as they remain locked even when you let off the throttle, whereas the helical type only lock up when your foot is down. Obviously if it stayed locked this will make it more predictable. The only plate type of diff I know you can get for an Atlas axle is from a late 2.8 capri. Helical (automatic torque biasing) diffs are only really any good for track use though am I right? These being Quaife ones etc. What do you guys have? p.s. welding is not an option, its my daily driver!!
jamesmk1 Posted July 15, 2009 Report Posted July 15, 2009 burton do tran x plate type for a capri. a welded diff in a daily driver if fine as long as you know its there.
