fostersice Posted July 22, 2009 Report Posted July 22, 2009 why is it so hard to insure my car??? after 5days of trying to sort out a laidup cover on my car and getting no where ive asking for help as soon i a say rollcage im told no cant insure you Y im ok when i ask to insure my classic mk2 escort rs2000 fitted with cosworth engine but as soon as i say its got a full rollcage im told they cant cover me the car is not even on the road just want to insure it as im working on it 1 why and 2 HELP im going mad

Dazav8 Posted July 22, 2009 Report Posted July 22, 2009 I Had the same problem with mine last year they where fine with the v8 engine in a mk1 escort but as soon as i mentioned the roll cage they couldnt insure it! I got the car insured with Adrian flux no probs
stevepeanut Posted July 22, 2009 Report Posted July 22, 2009 Adrian Flux are ace, insured my capri with them for a good price. Rang them up, said "I bought a full roll cage and harnesses" fine they said, no problem, added the mods to my policy, and they didnt charge me a penny extra

RETRO_AL Posted July 22, 2009 Report Posted July 22, 2009 Competition car insurance, they insured my mk1 escort fully caged linked ect even insured on all uk tracks,but you have to be a member of a motorsport club like b19,cost me just over £300 thats fully comp and insured for 30k

4parajon Posted July 23, 2009 Report Posted July 23, 2009 Ive been with Adrian Flux for a few years now, I can reccomend them, they do laid up policies as well, although I think they call them something else.

Unless it has an MOT i would give that a miss,if any scumbag helps themself to your pride and joy you will find your insurance is invalid due to no MOT

Mk 1 Helen Posted July 25, 2009 Report Posted July 25, 2009 I've been thinking.... if your garage is at your house could you call your house insurers to see if they would put the car on as a "named item" on the policy, you might have to pay a bit extra but may be worth a go PS Got a quote off confused for my 1.3GT, currently paying £120 with Adrian Flux, 4 companies were about that but one quoted me £9999.99!!!
