If this insert came out of the trut its deffo not Capri 2.8 Injection.

As the collor of the strut sugest Bilstein the insert aint Bilstein so somebody in a previous past must have painted the leg.

 

Looks even like a short leg too.

Could still be in origin from a Capri 1,6 or 2.0 or maby even Escort mk1 or 2

it will be from a 1.6 or 2.0 mk3 capri. The insert is obviously suppose to be oil filled, 2.8i uses gas shocks.

 

Looks like its been converted to coilver using the gartrac spec (shit) the top of the coilver tube should be flush with the top of the strut and you should be using nice short 8 or 9 inch springs, not the 12s or 13s that where probably on there.

cheers for the replies guys yes its been shortened as i measured it against my grp4 strut and found it to be 1.5in shorter...don`t suppose anyone has any inserts they want to sell cheers davy
