Tim Rev counter Not Smiths L@@K Can i Fit It ????

Hi

 

I am after fitting a Smiths 70's rev counter to my mk1 escort does anyone know how hard they are to fit?

 

Its an 1100L model.

 

I would really apreciate any help

I emailed the seller and this is what he said:"there is a red/white for the bulb,a red for live and a black earth.there is a green wire and two white which i don't know about.I think any one with a bit of electrical knowledge should be able to sort it though."

I really wanna get it but i dont want to not know how to fit it when i recieve it

 

There is 6 wires altogether hope this helps

the green wire will be the one to yhe coil. not sure on the other 2 tho

Red may be positive but without taking it apart and having a look who know's, there should also be a wire for the light inside and an earth! like tom says one of the wires will be the pick up wire from the coil

Right change of plan i have seen a cheaper one on ebay that looks a bit more simple to fit its made by a company called tim and it only has 3 wires by the looks of it green,red and white.So it looks like a better idea to me and also its only £1 with no reserve

Just emailed the seller this is what they said "hi there is 4 wires red,black,white,green. i have no fitting instructions but im sure theres some info on the net somewhere. i assume reds positive, blacks negative, and one of the others for the coil and one for dial illumination but i cant remember. thanks for the interest."
