GJUK Posted January 11, 2010 Author Report Posted January 11, 2010 Hi Chaps. Well, all I can say is I'm slightly stunned at how the chap in Chesterfield is still in business. He was, most, unhelpful and very difficult to get anything out of. I asked him "Not knowing much about carbs, do they require frequent rebuilding?" Reply "yes..." Me "May I ask, roughly how often?" *long pause* Reply "5 years..." Me "And how much would you charge for this kind of service?" *long, long, pause* Reply "No idea." *pause* Me "Okayyyy, thanks for your time." The Nottingham Place said "Just lob them on" and they will be fine. As pinto use 32 or 34 chocks, and as they're off a pinto they will run okay, just drop them on. Still not sure if I need to 'service' them with new gaskets etc. Jon
escort new boy Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 a lot of people use 36-38 mm chokes on pintos
simonw Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 You could try Ashton engineering (webber dealer) Floodgate street, Birmingham, 01216435134 it has been some years, dont know if there still around.
simonw Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 a lot of people use 36-38 mm chokes on pintos Dont think i would bother rebuilding that carb, Just swop it for a 38 DGAS. I did on my RS many years ago, possibly one of the best mods i did.
