fancy changing my rear axle for somthing little wild, something that will stick the wheels out the arches, something nice and WIDE, any suggestions on what axles are actually going to work,

cause for some reason i'm thinking a transit twin wheel one, only problem is the diff gearing it down too much, the thing will end up being a wheelie car which is good but dont think the chassy is going to be straight by the end of summer if it does. lol

well the twin wheel one will be fott and half wider, so have a nice set of 8" arches to build for it. dont like the idea of having to space it out 4 inches, thats alot of straing to put the 4 13mm nuts under that hold the half shaft in place!

cause that would mean something like 15j wheels if i want 8 inch arches poping out the side, defo a good way of getting traction but the tyres would cost a bomb to buy

why are you going 8 inches either side..

assuming that your not moving the suspension out by the same ammount the leverages working on the springs would mean you would need to increase the poundage by quite a lot, as the wheel center is further out the car would lean over a lot and 1 wheel bump would uncontrolled, this is easy to do, stiffer leafs of doubling up of the leafs, but, the dampers wouldnt be able to control the spring, the wheel bumps 2" and the damper moves 1/2" as its too far away from the wheels centerline ( this is why the early angled dampers on escorts where changed, as they didnt move enough to control the springs) The damper needs to be as close to the centerline of the wheel as possible unless you use a pushrod and bell crank arrangement with a ration or 2-3:1

Of course, if you just going for style over function, ignore all that above.
