I have a posi (LSD) rearend for my Mk II, because it came from a Mustang GT it is 5" wider than the stock Cortina rear axle.

There's a lot of work, time and failure opportunities in narrowing a rear axle, I'd prefer not to. Keeping the axle as it is, each rear drum will be 2.5 inches (~64mm) outboard of the stock location.

If I use wheels with a different offset, I can get away with slightly flaring the fenders and still look like a car; not a water spider.

Making the front track (wheel width) the same as the rear would require a different offset wheel; the question is will it adversely effect steering geometry? Will it be hard to steer, oversteer or be unsafe?
