bigdaz27 Posted April 8, 2010 Report Posted April 8, 2010 ok so ive got to the bady work stage and ive hit a wall. as i have next to no body work experience. im a bit stuck i have decided to start with the drivers side rear quarter panel as this has been pissing me of the most. i removed the old repair panel from the rear arch and it looks like theres a big dent in the back end of the sill going by the amount of filler. so were do i start and any useful tips would be good.
lee_capri Posted April 8, 2010 Report Posted April 8, 2010 you need to buy a new arch mate dont cut any-more out of this one at the moment, grind back till you get to the good stuff pop ypour new arch on mark round it alway's cut it smaller rather then bigger and when you weld the new one in use 10cm gap's between welds mat if not you will buckel the panel, or the other way is filler but either way you do it you will have to fill it, but it's not that deer to get it done by a proper guy mate can see it costing no more then a ton to get one fitted propley
bigdaz27 Posted April 8, 2010 Author Report Posted April 8, 2010 the best price i could get was £200 a side and he wanted to lay the new arch on the top
Guest cortinamad-gonetoo Posted April 8, 2010 Report Posted April 8, 2010 fit the new arch from under then you fill down get a much better finish 200 notjavascript:emoticon('') bad price if he was to do it all and paint it in but if hes fitting it as a over the top arch keep away
lee_capri Posted April 8, 2010 Report Posted April 8, 2010 the best price i could get was £200 a side and he wanted to lay the new arch on the top not on top mate he is planing the feather it a quater a way up the panel with filler to lose the bump look around mate you can get those mobile welder's that come to you, was that price to in clude the back of the arch as well
lee_capri Posted April 8, 2010 Report Posted April 8, 2010 that's not bad mate if it is a proper place, but shop around

bigdaz27 Posted April 8, 2010 Author Report Posted April 8, 2010 i wanted the arch butt welded or the joint under the panel rather then on top but he said it couldnt be done
Guest cortinamad-gonetoo Posted April 8, 2010 Report Posted April 8, 2010 i wanted the arch butt welded or the joint under the panel rather then on top but he said it couldnt be done hes talking shit go somewhere else
Guest cortinamad-gonetoo Posted April 8, 2010 Report Posted April 8, 2010 the inner arch whos gonna see it and aslong as you either as you say butt or put the outer arch under but only weld say every inch or spot weld it otherwise you will kink the metal with the heat # you do need filler for this job
