Ok this isnt a ford turbo problem but thurbos are the same principal and this one is really starting to get to me so just wanted to have a few other peoples opinions on this one, as a favor ive been tryin to sort my auntys turbo problem, see what you think....

2001 golf 1.9td removed the turbo because it was belived to be carboned up causing car to go into limp home mode, turbo went off to specialist and 250 quid later came back de carboned and something done to wastegate, fitted turbo back properly made sure inlet, drain and breathers were clear, then primed it, then ran it for 5 mins or so but on test drive once engine had got to temp engine would rev right up and smoke turned it off straight away and checked it, and the engine is running off the sump oil, so first thing i thought is turbo seals have been damaged by specialists, sent it back to them but they said they havent touched them charged another 100 quid for a 'repair kit' so fitted it again tonight double checking everything again, and bugger me its the exact same, once warm it'l run on its own engine oil and smoke like mad! am i missing something here? there is only an oil in an oil drain what could i have done wrong???? there was no issue with it using oil when the turbo was removed so whats gone wrong since? this is a nightmare!!!!! please help!

possibly a dodgy or stuck crank case vent valve bud. disconnect the breather pipe from the inlet and try again.

Its also might be a fuelling problem as, usually, when an engine starts running on its own like that you can't turn them off.

yeah usually if a tdi is taking in its own oil and revving like a cutn switching it off wont do anything ittl still rev like a bastid best thing to do is jam it straight in 5th n stand on the brakes to stall the fairy we had it on the landy and it was simply because therew as too muhc oil in it

Right got to bottom of it all tonight, when the turbo went away the first time they MUST of caused a problem because the seals let an awful lot of oil past them and left about 1.5 ltrs of oil in bottom of intercooler. tonight i took the bottom intercooler pipe off and a load of oil spewed out so i drained it all and ran engine as normal and it was fine, so in a nut shell the turbo was fitted by me the second time properly and just the same way it was fitted the first time and hey presto its perfect now, so it just goes to show they have tried to pull the wool over our eyes, they have charged my aunty 350 quid and i have had to fit and replace the turbo twice, anyone else be warned id recomend you ask around for a reputable comany before sending away, ive wasted 6 hours fookin about with this because of them!

It s just bloody anoying that they charge £250 to recon a turbo then send it back worse than when it went away, but cant admit they have made a mis-take, dont use TURBO CENTRE there shit!

my friends were doing the astra van, it came in for a new engine. they realised it was just a fooked turbo and changed it for a new one but the thing is where the turbo was damaged in the first place it had let the oil go already so when they put it back togeva and fired it up were all stood there and it stuck on full chat filling the workshop with thick black smoke! and they're running round like edless chickens screaming! wos funny though

Ive seen that before myself when i worked for ford, this mondeo a lad had just put a new engine in ran flat out until it destroyed itself because they stop via the pump this would of happened to this golf except the golfs have an air shut off
