surrey_100e Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 i think ive been the victim of a scam. I wont go too in depth but i paid for something that still hasnt arrived and the guy isnt returning my emails. I do how ever have ALL his bank account details, and his address (dont know if this is real) is there anything i can do with these? Cheers Martin
baz105e Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 go to the adress with a few mates and knock on the door on a serious note is it an ebay transaction ???
surrey_100e Posted August 25, 2010 Author Report Posted August 25, 2010 i would but its a good few hundred miles away, and i might get there and its a different address. Nope wasnt an ebay transaction, was a private one.
baz105e Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 im sure your bank should be able to retrieve the funds if you tell them its fraudulant
surrey_100e Posted August 25, 2010 Author Report Posted August 25, 2010 ha you would think, but because I transfered the money there is nothing they can do. Im just thinking as i have all his details can i somehow pay myself back....
andy a Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 BIC/IBAN, even account details are useless for withdrawals, you need the 12 digit card number to send money from an account, then if the cards a VISA you need the security code from the back, even if you've got that info then as far as the banks concerned if you attempted to move money from his account its fraud. Can you not check his name and address details to verify them?
Big_man Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 How long have you been waiting for the goods?
surrey_100e Posted August 25, 2010 Author Report Posted August 25, 2010 i have the iban, bic, bank name and branch, the account number, the sort code and the type of account it is. Do you think if i went in to the bank its with and gave them the details they could tell me? Ive been waiting nearly 2 weeks and he said it was to be with me within 24 hours....
mk3cokebottle Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 as for all the above details the bank wont tell you nothing because of consumer privacy , the only way you will be able to do anything is either ask some on the forum that is local to the person in qeustion just to give him a knock and say that because you havent received the goods you have asked them to collect .. or you can go to the police station explain the situation and then the police will be able to contact them through there bank . but i would try there address first if its any where nr hampshire /surrey i dont mind knocking on the door if you want me too
andy a Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 Banks wont give you any more details than you've already got, its data protection and security. Did the seller mention anythiong about going on holiday or similar, he could be away. Have you checked his address details for a telephone number and tried ringing it? Failing that there are quite a few ways of having a dig through the net to check details, people aften aren't aware of what a trail they leave behind them as they toddle round tinternet
surrey_100e Posted August 25, 2010 Author Report Posted August 25, 2010 lol thanks for the offer, but if they were id have been round there already thats for sure. I would have thought that with so much of their information that there must be away of doing some sort of transfer Oh thats how i found out most of the information, i think im half way there to becoming a private investigator , having trouble to find a contact number though, found the next door neighbours one as a last resort ....So anyone live at the top of Scotland?
