dawesy1700 Posted August 31, 2010 Report Posted August 31, 2010 is it at all possible to get a feature done whereby you road test, rolling road a car on twin 40's, then swap the set up to equivalent bike carbs, ninja's etc, on the same car so you have identical peramiters, same gearbox, diff, weight etc etc, then run the same tests, road test, rolling road, power run, mpg etc etc, so we can finally see, for definate, what the pro's and cons of each are? rather than the never ending debate of which is better, i'd offer my car but at the mo i'm finishing a 2 year resto on it and it won't be ready till next spring, i've ran bike carbs for over 3 years and think they are fantastic, but my friends run webbers, similar engines, and we can all keep up with each other etc, but i out do them with the fuel economy, so i'd just like to see it done, once and for all? cheers for reading my novel, think i'll get it published and turn it into a few films, hahaha.
zetecmk2 Posted August 31, 2010 Report Posted August 31, 2010 i think car & car convertions mag did this, but my memory doesn't win any prizes!!
GT_lenny Posted August 31, 2010 Report Posted August 31, 2010 trouble with this is very few car tuners know their way round a bike carb and how to get the best from them, and very few bike tuners will touch bike carbs on a car engine and vice versa, luckily i know a dyno man with lots of experience in both bikes and car tuning www.torquetune.co.uk I'm sure he'd be up for a bit of experimenting
Arfur Posted September 1, 2010 Report Posted September 1, 2010 Good call. We already have another comparison test under way along similar lines, but if time, funds and knowledge permit it, we'll run this one as well. Simon
DAZZA Posted October 17, 2010 Report Posted October 17, 2010 A comprehensive feature in this months which ive been waiting for someone to compile for ages. Well done CF
frodscrote Posted October 24, 2010 Report Posted October 24, 2010 I read the article with great interest. Not wishing to sound rude but it was a pity it wasn't written by someone that knows how carbs work.
vibrating_Cake Posted November 16, 2010 Report Posted November 16, 2010 I read the article with great interest. Not wishing to sound rude but it was a pity it wasn't written by someone that knows how carbs work. even people who know how carbs work... dont know how carbs work LOL. people have knowledge of carbs, but to have intimate knowledge and to know exactly what you are on about takes years of experience etc. saying that i havent read the article nor am i an expert on carbs, but i know my way around them for a stripdown+rebuild and fault finding!
