MR "S" Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 i have just ordered my "purple velvet" paint from my local paint shop-its F4. if stuck i can phone them & ask them...
Mr Day Posted October 27, 2010 Author Report Posted October 27, 2010 Cheers mate Is your paint as ford would have had it or just the bodyshops "purple velvet"?My bro's going completely standard so wants the colour to be right!

As Gary Stevens says above his code is F4 which is correct but the 4 means the car was built in 1974 if it was a 1975 car in Purple Velvet it would be F5. I think what you may want is the xsc code and not the Ford code this is used to mix the paint and i've managed to find it for Purple Velvet for you (most of my lists didnt list Purple Velvet but did most other Ford colours from the same era) its XSC 828 Take the xsc code along with Ford code F to the oldest motor factors who mix paint that you can find and get them to check the old books for a formula. Ford had trouble getting Purple Velvet right when the 1300E came out so you may find some variation between paint and indeed cars. Hope this helps.
