mk1estate Posted November 14, 2010 Report Posted November 14, 2010 I had my mins silence this morning, they cant burn silence so sod em all. watching the service last night and today. makes you proud to be part of this great nation. I know people will have thier own opinions on this, but its NOT to glorify the dead but to remember what they died for...US.[/u]
Savvi Posted November 14, 2010 Report Posted November 14, 2010 Just got back in from the local service, my Missus & Son marched as they are Beaver and cubs, i took my daughter to watch
petrolhead Posted November 14, 2010 Report Posted November 14, 2010 I went to a nice service at Chessington British Legion. The Police closed off the road at both ends out. The 2 minute silence was humbling as always until a Chav peroxide blonde with orange skin walked past on the pavement talking loudly on her phone completely oblivious to the veterans, 200 people, cars at a standstill and Police that she passed. What a selfish idiot.
mk1estate Posted November 14, 2010 Author Report Posted November 14, 2010 Blonde....say no more lol, used to live near there and many times skipped off school (therfield in leatherhead) to go to chessington zoo as it was then
Big_man Posted November 14, 2010 Report Posted November 14, 2010 I went to a big military service on camp today, was good not to have anyone disrupt it.
petrolhead Posted November 15, 2010 Report Posted November 15, 2010 This is what it is all about. A few of my pictures, I try and visit a battle field every year..... Tyne Cot cemetry, 22000 graves and itself just one of over 100 cemeteries around Ypres. I'll let the rest do the talking...... RIP
Nick Posted November 15, 2010 Report Posted November 15, 2010 This is what it is all about. A few of my pictures, I try and visit a battle field every year..... Tyne Cot cemetry, 22000 graves and itself just one of over 100 cemeteries around Ypres. I'll let the rest do the talking...... RIP Have been to both tyne cot and the arch in ypres mate and i can say its truely unbelievable the amount of soldiers who gave there lives i went on a trip with my school to visit all the major battle fields around belgium and france. Visited the soome, ypres, hill 52 and another town whiich has a massive underground museum. Went on it twice as i found it that interesting. isnt there a service every night at 8 o'clock at the arch in which everyone turns out to? savvi - which service did you go to? as im in the cadet force band and bugles and we played in oxford town centre if that was the one you were at. We were dressed in green jackets with black hats and red plumes
petrolhead Posted November 16, 2010 Report Posted November 16, 2010 Yes that is right, they do a service every day at 8pm without fail at the Menin Gate. I think there are around 55,000 names engraved on it.
