samcos Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 Is anyone able to explain the differance between excentric and concentric top mounts, and which is best??? thanks
over_head_cam Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 Concentric - in the middle, like 'concentric circles' Eccentric - off centre (or able to be adjusted that way), like most of us on OSF The concentric mount is fixed so any geometry adjustments are done at the bottom of the leg., The eccentric mount is good for adjustments in camber and castor, but it will alter them both at the same time (in varying degrees) I would guess that a fully adjustable mount (that alters castor and camber separately) would be even better
Andrade Posted November 26, 2010 Report Posted November 26, 2010 I used eccentric mounts on my Anglia simply because its a narrow vehicle. This means that adding camber from the TCA would stick the wheel too far out the wheel arch. This way I decreased the distance between the top mounts, and put adjustable TCA's anyway so I can bring it back to close to original camber. Somehow makes sense in my mind, i'll just hope it doesnt handle like crap
samcos Posted November 26, 2010 Author Report Posted November 26, 2010 Thanks guys that's a great help, think I'll go for some fully adjustable ones then
