FredTransit Posted March 14, 2011 Report Posted March 14, 2011 Exactly. Biggest waste of money going. It said on the news today that the olympic park was built on industrial wasteland. Strangely they did not mention the businesses that were forced into moving or closed to make way for the olympics.
zetecmk2 Posted March 14, 2011 Report Posted March 14, 2011 isn't that the greek national carrier? do they do cheap flights to malta? no...i thought not you're right...it doesn't matter!!
banarama Posted March 15, 2011 Report Posted March 15, 2011 does nothing for me/i suspect it will be on tv
Mrs O/H/C Posted March 15, 2011 Report Posted March 15, 2011 Do not care ..another huge amount of the tax payers money spent on something that was not required. It makes me very cross...as there are cut backs to important services yet they can have an open cheque for something like the Olympics.
442 Posted March 15, 2011 Report Posted March 15, 2011 NO...........and are we sure its 500 days as they probably wont get it finished in time as per usual and at extra cost to............us!!
Admin Mk2Jo Posted March 15, 2011 Admin Report Posted March 15, 2011 I am interested I pre-booked tickets to one of the events today ... the bmx'ing event as my son's are interested in bmx'ing and it is exciting to watch and to say we have been Friday 10th August 2012 here we come (actually, I won't know until mid May if we were lucky enough to get tickets or not but I suspect that BMX'ing will be one of the least subscribed to events

To be fair a lot of it was privately funded, but not all and there's also the cost to London in disruption, security and Policing and businesses that had to move or close if they couldn't afford the move. Maybe it's cos I don't get spectating sport, and if I did I think it's better to see it on TV anyway. The expense to some of the events is huge, how the organisers can say some tickets are 'only' £20 is beyond me, like it's free to get there and maybe take time off work too, and it's far more expensive if you don't live in London and have to find accommodation.
MK2Ed Posted March 15, 2011 Report Posted March 15, 2011 In fairness also believe much of it is funded from private sector and then other bodies like National Lottery. Understand benefits include jobs, tourism, improved transport, facilities and other revenue. I'll have some of it also, although probably to do with the football. There a lot going on so maybe something for all tastes...
