carman Posted March 20, 2011 Report Posted March 20, 2011 Just thought id put a couple of pics up of my granny, just finished sorting it out ready for the summer!
442 Posted March 20, 2011 Report Posted March 20, 2011 Could of washed it lol that looks factory fresh mate spot on!
grifterkid Posted March 20, 2011 Report Posted March 20, 2011 Oh my word, that is a most amazing Mk2 Granada... Being a pre-facelift it is as rare as hens teeth too...
SimonOSF Posted March 20, 2011 Report Posted March 20, 2011 Very nice mate, white seems to suit mk1 and mk2 Granadas
carman Posted March 22, 2011 Author Report Posted March 22, 2011 Thanks for the comments people. Shes not that mint, the photos flatter her a bit! Just looking forward to getting out and driving it, being taxed on 1st April, so not long now!
DUBSCORT Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 Nice pre-facelift mate, best of luck while enjoying it
grifterkid Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 Thanks for the comments people. Shes not that mint, the photos flatter her a bit! Just looking forward to getting out and driving it, being taxed on 1st April, so not long now! It's most certainly all about getting out there and driving these old beasts...!!! Hopefully you'll still be blasting around in it next year in the direction of the Ace Cafe in London for the Granada's 40th anniversary celebrations I'm organising...
carman Posted April 4, 2011 Author Report Posted April 4, 2011 Id be well up for the Ace next year, still havent been to the Ace yet! Been out and about in it all weekend, including using it to take bridesmaids to the church for my mates wedding on Saturday!! My mate Andy and Vics wedding, thats his Mk5 in the background...
AdeV Posted April 4, 2011 Report Posted April 4, 2011 Just thought id put a couple of pics up of my granny, just finished sorting it out ready for the summer! Wow, she looks stunning.... Was a vinyl roof ever an option on a Mk2? Or did you just paint it to look that way... Also... could you do me a massive favour & take a close up straight-on photo of one of your wheels, please? I'm mulling over what wheels to put on my Mk2 estate when I finish her, and I'm really starting to like the look of the wheels you've got. However, I'm wondering about having some made specially, with a bigger rim size (16 or 17" instead of 14"), and I can't find a decent photo of one anywhere... I reckon a set of alloys to that design, bigger, and painted or anodized the same way, would look really good...
carman Posted April 5, 2011 Author Report Posted April 5, 2011 The roof was an optional extra, along with the adjustable drivers mirror Wheel pics, excuse the rust... ...and with the trims removed... Hope these help AdeV, if you do get wheels made, put some pics up, id be interested in seeing them! Looking at these pics reminds me that i must paint my brake drums lol!!
AdeV Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 Smashing, thanks for that I was wondering how you'd got the flat edge on the right-hand side of the tyre.... but see what you've done now.... I think, if I can get alloys made like that, I'd have the centre cap as an integral part of the wheel. I hadn't really noticed the mirror; now I look at it, it seems to be too far back along the door.... My 1st estate was a pre-facelift, that had an adjustable driver's mirror, can't remember about the passenger side, but it's so long ago, I can't recall where on the door it was. Right, armed with that wheel photo, I'll have to get it sized & matched up to a nice side-view of my granny to see what it looks like pumped out to 16" or so,
grifterkid Posted April 6, 2011 Report Posted April 6, 2011 I still cannot get over how clean and tidy this old barge looks, it is a stunner...! Do you have any snaps of the interior, I'd be double keen to see those...?! Also have you ever though of putting it on some TRX alloys (an option since the Mk2 was launched) it'd look spot on with a set of those...

Also have you ever though of putting it on some TRX alloys (an option since the Mk2 was launched) it'd look spot on with a set of those... Cheers mate! Il have to get some inside shots this weekend and post them up. Im not too keen on the TRX wheels tbh, i just prefer my standard steelies, plus the tyres cost a fortune! It had Mk1 Ghia alloys on when i bought it off my mate, but the original wheels came with the car so i put them back on
grifterkid Posted April 6, 2011 Report Posted April 6, 2011 Fair do's, those TRX tyres do cost the Earth...!!! As it is your car looks perfect so just leave it be... I am hoping to be sorting out a Granada 40th anniversary shin dig at the Ace Cafe in London next year (2012) so if you're up for it I'd love to have your motor in the main car park...
carman Posted April 6, 2011 Author Report Posted April 6, 2011 Yeah, id be well up for the Ace, keep me posted mate!
grifterkid Posted August 6, 2011 Report Posted August 6, 2011 Hello there Carman, I just stumbled on this superb post again & I'm blown away by this motor!!! Has it been used much over the summer so far (I haven't really used my Granada down to a dodgy thermostat and a faulty inhibitor switch!!!)...? Any chance of some more snaps of it, especially the interior and engine bay please?! It is so darn rare to see a pre-facelift Mk2 like this, I just need to see more of it...
In The Pit Posted August 7, 2011 Report Posted August 7, 2011 It really is nice, the colour the wheels everything looks perfect. I'd love to see some photos of your 1.1 Escort Popular Plus you have listed on the bottom of your posts, especially if it looks as minty fresh from the factory as your Granada.
