Tucker Posted May 2, 2011 Report Posted May 2, 2011 I just but a Type 9 gearbox in my x-flow powered mk2 escort, now the exhaust( i think its a peter lloyd 4-2-1 manifold) runs very close to the bellhousing/gearbox mount. I was going to cut it and weld a bend in it, but its blowing up by the head. So i was wondering if any1 knows of a off the shelf manifold that has more clearance, saves getting a custom one made.

Don't have an answer to your question, but I'd like to put a type 9 in my 16xflow capri. Can you tell me whats involved in doing the conversion?
madmexmike Posted May 4, 2011 Report Posted May 4, 2011 hi i have a mk2 tina with a 5 speed type 9 box fitted and my manifold has been welded up , maybe it was done because of clearance issues .
Paul_G Posted May 4, 2011 Report Posted May 4, 2011 cut and weld or a bit of flexi pipe works as a temporary fix. I think Anglia Neil is the only supplier of a manifold that you can fit without any alterations.
