Longer wheel studs

Anyone know from experience whats the longest stud that can be put in an atlas axle without taking apart ie removing rear brakes or half shafts and the like... (or is it easy to put 20mm longer studs in?) The Cobra slots Im fitting have a very thick face which leaves nothing for the nut to grip, the wheel is held on by the thin sleeve part of the nut and not the nut itself, dodgy at least! need a 10mm spacer too maybe to get the right look.
