  1. I made adapter brackets, made 5 pair and sold the rest, think were some for sale on here.
  2. now sitting on 15s, nice cossy callipers up front to help stop the brute..
  3. Cheers for the comms, the fast road na spec was just tame enough to handle some boost, any more cam duration and the boost would be out the exhaust. Must get it built up again as the block was cracked. Balls!
  4. Hi. does anyone on here make adaptor brackets to mount 2wd cossie calipers on a capri/mk2 escort strut? using a 285mm disc from rally design. Cheers!
  5. Anyone know from experience whats the longest stud that can be put in an atlas axle without taking apart ie removing rear brakes or half shafts and the like... (or is it easy to put 20mm longer studs in?) The Cobra slots Im fitting have a very thick face which leaves nothing for the nut to grip, the wheel is held on by the thin sleeve part of the nut and not the nut itself, dodgy at least! need a 10mm spacer too maybe to get the right look. Thanks in advance!
  6. I think so too... the individual ones were £20, pipercross blank and filter £120
  7. First spin done... waow it really flies! Running way way too rich so is really boggy, will fly even more when I get the fuelling sorted.. Them filters are shite tho... 20% more power with them off.
  8. Zx9r carbs.... They seem to work well in the garage that has my bros car parked outside and went on hols with his keys in his pocket... so, no driving yet!!! rage
  9. Just finished my YB install.. Thanks to everyone on here for help along the way! Here's a few of the final pics The full engine build and install is on the link below- http://www.fordcapriforum.com/forum/vie ... e9&start=0
  10. They should have made a modern car look like a Capri instead of making a Capri modern. A paint job would help...
  11. This can get very expensive!! What I did didn't cost a lot but it works very well.. Dont get too hung up on wattage figures, as long as the total speaker wattage is higher than the amp output. I'm running 2800 watts worth of speakers from a 400watt amp, and it will blow your head off! It's all about the ohm rating. Buy a decent power amp (not a chinese cheapy from ebay) I got a JBL 2 channel stereo amp and stuck it in the glovebox. Wire an ignition live from a switch and wire the speakers in parallel. Most amps run at 4 ohms a side, so make sure both speakers are 8ohms then wire like this, The ones in the diagram are 4 ohms resulting in 2 ohms. Only expensive amps will run at 2 ohms. If you have 2, 4 ohm speakers you can wire in series which will flip the ohms the other way and not over load your amp Never overload the amp, it will not last long. The lower the ohm calculation the more draw there will be. Full range speakers dont need crossovers, only needed when running tweeters and bass bins.. leave that to the saxo drivers..! I just wired a 3.5mm jack to the amp so I can listen to my ipod, not a big fan of the radio but I can plug my phone in and listen to the radio that way. You can use the speaker out from your original radio (unless you have a modern radio with an unpowered signal out aux, then it will be ok) and wire to the amp, but the amps that can handle a powered signal input are expensive. Have you ever used one of those fm transmitters before? they're shit. Nothing beats a hard wired system... I wanted to leave the orginal radio as is and run the new set up separately. My orginal radio only had one speaker on the dash top anyways. A few pics Make sure all speakers are wired properly, if not they will run out of phase resulting in the bottom end cancelling out.... Good luck!
  12. MOT was a few months ago and all was tip top, the hill is very long tho!!
  13. The callipers and discs are brand new, no older than 12 months, they were just standard items. Fluid changed at the same time. There is a hill near where I live and when the car goes down it the brakes are non existent by the bottom, I means nothing!! And I intermittently use them so they wont heat too much.. Deffo gonna do some track daying when the YBs in too.
  14. The Megajolt is prob the best value for money and a great system to use! I'll post a link of my install on my pinto, might help- prob not! I'll be swapping it over to my NA YB very soon. The TPS version is actually easier to install, webcon do a proper fit bracket that sits on the side and a pot that fits on first day with no issues. The MAP version needs all the inlet manifold runners tapped into and fed to a reservoir to give a proper reading. I bought 3 unassembled from the US built them all, sold 2, actually made money on it that paid for the crank wheel trigger and the edis unit and coil pack. The v4 version I got has loads of output options- can advance the timing during a cold start so the engine revs higher, has output for tacho, has a rev limiter (so worth the extra few $!) and has 4 shift light outputs so you can have a disco going on. You can also input a signal from a lambda probe and data log sessions. This will be very useful when getting my bike carbs set up.. You can also wire a switch to flip between 2 different maps, one for pishy tesco juice and one for high octane, very handy in an everyday/trackday car. Only problem with the megajolt is getting your laptop (if it doesn't have a rs232??? socket) to communicate via usb.. I bought 3 adaptors before it worked! The autosportslabs website has a great community with loads of peeps very willing to help out! 3D mapping is defo the way forward if your up for a bit of fettling??! For me, easily the best option! http://www.autosportlabs.org/viewtopic.php?t=2646
  15. Waow! Very good advice there chaps! I know now what exactly I need to do... Thanks again!
  16. Is this the spacer from burtons? https://www.burtonpower.com/product_mai ... per_spacer Then just put 2.8 discs on..
  17. Those top 2 BF Gr's look a bit perished... hope they're not going on the car..?
  18. Yo.. I can get a set of standard YB leads for £30 and found coilpack terminals for £7 Trying to remove old coilpack terminals and reattach can be a bit messy/annoying! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... K:MEWAX:IT Means I can custom make to exact length... Perfect!!
  19. Cheers Beaks! Are 2.8 callipers a direct fit to 2.0 struts? Is it just a case of bunging the whole lot on, connecting the fluid nipple and away you go?? This seams the cheapest option..
  20. My current standard Capri brakes are very average, they suffer badly from brake fade. I'm considering an upgrade with discs all round. What upgrades are good? Standard 2.8 capri items up front maybe or wilwoods, APs, High specs??? I wanny keep the 13" minilites I have on too.. Could I source a complete set up from a doner car maybe?? Will the master cylinder need adapted for 4 discs, will a bias valve of some sort be needed too? When the YB goes in I'll defo need the extra stopping power..!
  21. I was in this situation a few months back... I Ordered some 10mm aluminium flange from ebay and 38mm ID piping, got the hack saw and file going and had it welded locally all in about £60 and the ZX9R carbs, had 180 jets in them and dyno needles too, were £65 incl delivery, fluro lined fuel resistant hose £25-30... 150ish quid for my set up, the filters werean extra £20 quid from china Give it a go yourself!!
  22. Have a new set of wasted spark splitfire leads on the pinto, was gonna try and doctor them to fit the YB im building... wasted spark leads are near 100 lid... Are YB connections available to buy or can an old set be bodged onto my existing leads???
  23. Bought what I thought were Capri single leaf springs but they aren't They have 45mm eyes on both ends anyone any idea what there off? Any info would be good so I can shift them on under proper identification. Thanks
