BIG G Posted January 21, 2007 Report Posted January 21, 2007 just put new rear arches on my mk2 and had to weld in new inner lips as well so when i spotted the new outers to the inners theres no paint much in the seams. Will waxoyl from sprayed in the arch from the boot get in to the seams any ideas as not a body work expert at all.
over_head_cam Posted January 21, 2007 Report Posted January 21, 2007 yeah, it should do. It's pretty runny out of the gun so it will get in all the little gaps. Spray it until it comes out the other end
mick Posted January 21, 2007 Report Posted January 21, 2007 Hi mate before you do any work like buy some weld through primer. you get it in aerosols and spray on the areas your welding. if you have already done the job use etch primer then sealer on the joint. Wipe any excess sealer out with de greaser. HTH Mick.
Tom Posted January 21, 2007 Report Posted January 21, 2007 pics? i regularly squirt oil (20w50) on the inside of the rear arches (and in the chassis rails) mate just for piece of mind you know

Tom Posted January 22, 2007 Report Posted January 22, 2007 it seems to mate. it won't do any harm. you should see the state of the underside of the escort - covered with engine oil, grease, gearbox oil all leaked out but no rust
