Smisni Posted November 1, 2011 Report Posted November 1, 2011 Hello everyone, I just registered here and wanted to introduce my toy. Didn't know where to put it really, this seems like appropriate place. Since it's a project car... Anyhooo... I bought this Granada 2.8i Sport in summer 2010 for err... about 200 euros. It's been sitting on a parking lot for a while, the previous owner couldn't sell it, noone was interested. Here are some pics: When I bought it, a friend of my suggested an engine swap! He knew about one Scorpio Cosworth with 2.9 V6 engine that the owner was selling for parts. This, see: He said it's no problem, since I would buy a whole car for 500 euros, we can simply transfer the engine and and cables and everything to Granada. I didn't really have a clue... but I went for it since it didn't cost much. Well, the engine transplant went without troubles, we also got a hold of a gearbox from Sierra Cosworth (cuz I didn't like the automatic one from Scorpio). However... there was a problem with the electric part of the work. Noone knew how to put that together. It seems this was a BOB version of an engine which is a lot more complicared than the BOA version. For a full year I looked all over Croatia, a lot of people told me they can do it. I would bring a car to them, it would stay for a month in their garage until they would give up. So about a month ago, I decided to spend some more money on it and bought VEMS. Fellow who sold me VEMS put it right in the car, and the engine started that same afternoon! If I knew the problem can be solved that fast, I would do that a long time ago! See: Now the car is back with my mechanic, he ordered some new parts to service it so it'll all be ready by the time I go home since I'm on a ship right now. 3 more weeks to go! And I can't wait to take a first ride in my Granada Cosworth. hehe After year and a half... it's about time! There is one thing I wanted to ask, I saw this photo someplace: To me, that's really stunning. Where can I order this kind of bodykit? The front lip and this mesh... I love it! And I'm quite sure I can't get it in Croatia. Anyone knows if I can order it from UK?
lotusless Posted November 1, 2011 Report Posted November 1, 2011 200 euro's is a great price for a granada sport !!! how many mk2 granadas do you see in croatia ?
Smisni Posted November 1, 2011 Author Report Posted November 1, 2011 200 euro's is a great price for a granada sport !!! how many mk2 granadas do you see in croatia ? Yeah, this one was a bargain. It does need some work but nothing mayor. In fact, I'm looking for these... what do you call... these bumber ends, see this pic: It seems the previous owner couldn't find the original ones in Croatia so he put the plastic ends from the VW Golf Mk2 Well, I don't like it, I want original ones but have no idea where to get them. Where do you people buy these parts? There is one more Granada in the ads for sale that I know of. It's in a mint condition 2.8i Ghia for 1500 euro's and the guy has been trying to sell it for more than a year now. Maybe he could sell it for that in UK or Germany but his price is totally unrealistic for Croatian market. Now when you asked, I can't remember I ever saw a running Mk2 or Mk1 Granada in Croatia. People here don't really appreciate a car, unless it's a VW Golf, BMW or Mercedes. Noone cares about Fords. Which is good for Ford fans as we can get cars for peanuts.

Smisni Posted November 12, 2011 Author Report Posted November 12, 2011 There's news! New mushroom filter in on: Granny on her way for fine tuning the VEMS: Measuring in progress: Final verdict: 235hp @ 5100rpm Me happy.
Smisni Posted January 20, 2012 Author Report Posted January 20, 2012 Preps for paint job: And Granny finally painted! This painted photo is since this morning, I don't have any more but there will be next week. We'll leave the Granny to dry well during the weekend and assemble it next week. Can't wait! Now there's any issue with fuel tank, it's dirty and rusty inside, I'll need to replace it. Since there is no replacement tanks available, we'll try to fit fuel tank from Ford Sierra. Not sure if it'll fit...
