frankthefencer Posted November 17, 2011 Report Posted November 17, 2011 Hi, Received my single leaf springs today for my mk2 escort.I see some people decamber them.Is there an advantage to doing this??If so anyone know where i can get them done? Thanks...........
dalmarshall Posted November 17, 2011 Report Posted November 17, 2011 I had mine decambered by 2 inches (which is the maximum they will do) as I wanted it lower and I already had 2 inch lowering blocks. Gartrac do it, send them to them and they return them to you. £40 - 50 odd I think I think they bend them without heat too as I heard some people will heat them which takes the spring out and weakens them
frankthefencer Posted November 17, 2011 Author Report Posted November 17, 2011 Thanks for that.Do you still use lowering blocks as well?? doesthat in total give you a 4" drop?
dalmarshall Posted November 17, 2011 Report Posted November 17, 2011 Yep, still use blocks to get the desired ride height. I had std single leafs and 2 inch blocks I went for a 2 inch de camber and a 1 inch block so it should be an inch lower than it was however, it appears to be the same so i'm gonna put the 2 inch blocks back in probably if it doesn't settle down in a hundred miles time or so!! You can get 3 inch blocks if you look around but many dont recommend them that big
mk2 mike Posted November 18, 2011 Report Posted November 18, 2011 What do you do to the front end to make it level?
