Durham Fiesta Posted January 25, 2007 Report Posted January 25, 2007 when i got my mk1 i had all intentions of doing it all myself but with loads of overtime etc never got the time , but luckily i know a bloke who is a bit handy with the welder so is doing most of it for me for a very reasonable sum. I've seen people buy a mk1 xr2 for nearly 2k get it home and strip it, and find its totally rotten. At least doing it yourself you know everything is done to start with

quickrack Posted January 25, 2007 Report Posted January 25, 2007 I deliver bread to make my bread! 3 years ago i couldnt do anything past simple servicing. Now cos im skint i can do most things except paint and wiring(scary)! Back issues of classic Ford, the local library and asking questions were my education. Stick to it and every job done makes the next easier. I promise

johnny_h Posted January 25, 2007 Report Posted January 25, 2007 There's a bodyshop near me that has just finished spraying an immaculate white mk1 xr2. I asked if it was for sale but no it's going to be bubble wrapped and stored away in a dark hangar.
mr squidian Posted January 25, 2007 Author Report Posted January 25, 2007 yeah... thats guna be like that other pst on here the hangar falls down and it gets smashed i bet ... do what uncle henry intended them for .. thrash the nuts off them!!!
Durham Fiesta Posted January 25, 2007 Report Posted January 25, 2007 surely if you spend cash on a car your gonna want to drive it, lets face it your not gonna get super rich off selling a mk1 fiesta in 20 years, yeah you'll make a bit but not enough to retire on If you've got the will to do something then you will
Mr Sam Posted January 26, 2007 Report Posted January 26, 2007 keep it mate you'll only regret it and trust me if you buy a saxo it will put you off motoring or fidling with cars for life ghastly things coulndt me more french even if they came with a deep fat frogs legs fryer built into the dash and theres no point getting jelous over other cars on here sure there alot cleaner and alot faster youve seen plenty of pics of my banger that puts a smile on my face every time i drive it out cruising last night a bunch of lads sat in a 106.........does that car look matt black to you i couldnt be more satisfied with my car as that 106 was bought for £300 the idiot then went and spent 4k on it for sound system alloys etc etc.... the little matt black red wheel'd fiesta couldnt look more different and more unique if it tryed......plastic is not the way forward, you stick to patching up the rust then get saving for a x'flow once you've got your licence and behind the wheel all will be worth while you'll see
