rusty82 Posted February 1, 2012 Report Posted February 1, 2012 hi cortina mk5s have a atlas/english axle but two types a weak one or a stronger one, most crusaders had the weak one like what mine has, but my diff is fv will a capri one fit? what diff do i need?? on the pic my axle is the first one
rallyesport04 Posted February 2, 2012 Report Posted February 2, 2012 i thought all mk5 tinas were atlas but ones found on the 2.3 were heavy duty i maybe wrong but thats i was led to belive
rusty82 Posted February 4, 2012 Author Report Posted February 4, 2012 thats what i thought, normaly i would rip the old axle out and put another in but that was 17 years ago and probably buy a tina with no t&t for a nifty 50, these days as parts are so hard to come by that you got to rebuild what you got.
w p e Posted February 4, 2012 Report Posted February 4, 2012 so by fooked you mean a set of bearings wont put it right?
rusty82 Posted February 5, 2012 Author Report Posted February 5, 2012 the diff is slacker than my first girl friend (she was the village bike). there is no rumble at any speed. but there is a hell of a vibration from 60 onwards, like the prop is out of ballance but i took it off and had a couple of places test it while i was there, and there is nothing wrong with it.also my tina has only covered 80.000 miles. if the car was stood for a long time (3-4 yrs) then the oil was changed could the slack have do anything with it being stood still for so long????
