*2003 transit 2.4 help needed!!! *

Wondered if someone has any info that could help me!!?

We have a 2003 transit 2.4 duratorque rwd jumbo and yesterday it was sat idling then just cut out...the horn was sounding all this time until the ignition was turned off. Now wgjen you try and start it all the dash lights come on but it will not crank, we have tried pulling it but still no start, I have a snap on solus pro scanner and that will not communicate with it. I have checked fuses, engine and chassis earths, even tried another ecu and keys from another but still just turns ignition on but no cranking!?

Just a bit stuck now without wiring diagrams and system circuit info. Etc!

try the connection box below the jump start bit under the bonet it has a 8/10mm bolt holding it together ,the connetions inside usually corroded up.this will also stop your solas connecting. also pluging a ecu with a matching key will not work. the pump is coded too. also the earth wire under the seat are crap try running a new one

as above mate the earth under the seat is quite a common problem on these, u have to take the batteries out to get to it, which is a mission on its own coz its at the bottom of the battery box, also on some transits they have a fuse link built into the battery lead as well cant remember for the life of me if its on the earth lead or the pos lead but these can corrode and mess you about as well

Cheers lads, I have checked the earth already as had that corrode on another.... This is bugging me!! LOL... Will be back on it in the morning!

If you can't read a ecu the you need to check lives & earths to that unit.

 

I did a Citreon van this week with similar faults, found a wire had rubbed through which switches the relay for the ignition feeds.
