webby1 Posted June 10, 2012 Report Posted June 10, 2012 hi, i am building my sons mk1 escort estate but have run into probs with the steering rack / track rod ends. the rack is standard mk1 but the legs are mk2 coilovers with the fixed steering arms, for some reason the TRE's dont do up tight, i have tried to find out what ones i need but to no avail, do i need to change the rack for a mk2 item. if any body can help i would really appreciate it as i would like to have the car finished for when he returns from afghan so he can take it to ford fair.thanks.
banarama Posted June 10, 2012 Report Posted June 10, 2012 im pretty sure you need rs 2000 ones mate, its a long time ago i did this. i think the tapered bit is thicker and they will do up tight, rather than move up and down in the hole
over_head_cam Posted June 10, 2012 Report Posted June 10, 2012 IIRC Mk1 fiesta ones are the same, I had Mk2 legs on my Mk1. I'm sure I remember that they were colour coded and were 'green' (but as I'm old I might be wrong)
w p e Posted June 11, 2012 Report Posted June 11, 2012 they are green for rs but aint a mk1 rack threads unf and mk2 rs metric? i'll check as im old aswell
