Ive almost finished off the o/s front of my escort,

the problem i have is that someone has previously welded on the anti-roll bar bracket and i cant get the bolt out

Ive tried a punch and a big hammer but its having none of it so i plan to cut the tube out and weld in a new one... trouble is the cars miles away and i diddnt take any measurements

can anyone tell me the length and width of the bolt used so i can buy a piece of 3mm thick tube to weld back in when i cut the old one out

im after something like this...

Apparently the inner diameter of the tube is imperial but nearest to 12mm

if i got some steel tube with a 12mm inner diameter does that mean an M12 bolt will fit in nicely?

i have some double width anti roll bar brackets but no bolts and nuts to hold them in place

How about drilling it through mate with the correct size drill bit to remove any weld or left over thread that's inside the steel tube?

that's what i think i would try first

Initially thats what i was going to do but on a close inspection someone has had a go before and missed the bolt completely drilling into the tube itself.

Rather than trying to repair the tube thats in pretty bad shape it may just be easier to replace the lot
