Im going to be buying an anti tramp kit to fit to the rear of my mk1 escort along with some new rear springs and poly bushes.

the only thing im not sure on is what is better the straight type anti tramp kit or the angled type.

cheers

The reason that 2 types exist is because of the different angle of inclination of the rear shocks so you maybe limited to what you can fit.

I dont have an Escort, but I am sure that one of my mates who is a Mk1 Escort man told me that the straight ones are designed for the early cars with shallow angle shocks. The angled ones for late type shocks i.e. more upright. I think upright shocks were on 1973 cars and later.

If you phone Rally Design they should be able to offer some advice on what is suitable for your car.

If the shocks bolt to a bar under the car get angled.

If they bolt to the car through the floor get straight

Erm I'm sure it's the other way round mate, straight for early cars where the shocks bolt to the bar and angled for late cars where the shocks bolt through the floor

My car has the early type with the shocks bolted to the bar underneath with an eye to eye fixing on the shock absorbers. Does anyone know what type I need for sure as I don't want to order the wrong one

I keep hearing different things from different people and really dont want to get it wrong :banghead:

You have early type shocks. The late type bolt through the floor, the same as on the Mk 2.

According to the Rally Design advert in Classic Ford, you would need a straight type.
