  3. You have early type shocks. The late type bolt through the floor, the same as on the Mk 2. According to the Rally Design advert in Classic Ford, you would need a straight type.
  4. The reason that 2 types exist is because of the different angle of inclination of the rear shocks so you maybe limited to what you can fit. I dont have an Escort, but I am sure that one of my mates who is a Mk1 Escort man told me that the straight ones are designed for the early cars with shallow angle shocks. The angled ones for late type shocks i.e. more upright. I think upright shocks were on 1973 cars and later. If you phone Rally Design they should be able to offer some advice on what is suitable for your car.
  5. Impressive stuff indeed. Wish my Old Man was still alive to see a Mk 1 go that quick and in his favourite colour too. I'm with Deltamal and his premonition of 8s quarters next year. Good luck.
  6. Because I live in a cave, I was not aware of any Euro regulation changes regarding modified cars. Can anyone post a link or summarise the changes please? Thanks.
  7. I plan to. The car has rack and pinion steering but I wanted to mot it while I sorted the bits to correct the problem with it. It was a nice sunny day when I posted it and had a craving to get out in it so thought I would ask the question. Cheers.
  8. Can anyone tell me if a car with bump steer would fail an MOT? When the car is jacked up, you can see the wheels are not "straight" but are angled slightly. Thanks.
  9. It's currently got a set of 6" Supalites (need a freshen up) with 175x60 Yokohamas, which after scrubbing in were really good tyres, but have worn very quickly. Height wise, the front is running Escort RS struts and 145lb -2" springs. I'm sure the rear has a modified set of CD6 springs (would need to check what is left in the shed and work out what's still there) with -1.5" blocks and gas shocks. I will post up a new thread in projects and restos when I have finished building the decking, as there seems to be very little information on rack conversions around. Found a useful thread at: http://www.cortina-mk1classifieds.com/f ... conversion
  10. A quick note to say that Wheeler Dealers on sky channel 523 at midnight tonight (Tuesday) features a buy and facelift on a Capri 1.6 Laser.
  11. I know the feeling kirbycortina. Had parts for sale on here and just about to put the car up for sale and looking around this site, made me keep it. Got a new lease of life on the old gal.

    MIG Welder

Unfortunately my old Butters welder has given up the ghost and the company no longer exists. Looking to get a new welder for car work only. Budget £400, anyone got any recommendations please? Cheers.
  14. Legend. He was a big influence on my Dad. May they both Rest In Peace.
  15. Looks tidy. Wish I could do stuff that well.
  16. I know a local escort that has run a tran-x diff and gear set in South west hillclimbs for years with a very powerful cross flow and never missed a beat. Not used them myself though.
  17. I can do dippy. Chargers are damn sexy cars. Theres something about a dodge with a big V8. I'm quite partial to a White Challenger R/T a la Vanishing Point as well.
  18. Gotta get a 4x4 to move the little silver s**tbox that parks outside mine all the time. Job done.
  19. Niiiice. Haven't had that feeling for a while and can't wait for that feeling again. The time approaches.

  21. I wouldn't have minded driving Daisy back in the day
  22. An orange charger with a confederate flag on the roof and 01 on the doors or a '69 camaro
  23. BGH Geartech. Chap called Brian Hill has supplied me with bits for 2000e box bits and built me a 5 speed type 9 which was a lovely box. Top man. http://www.bghgeartech.co.uk/
