I’m thinking of selling my MK1 Escort. The car has done around 32000 miles from new and only had 2 or 3 owners. It’s a very solid example and I’ve had it for around 18 months now. All of the mechanical work on the car has been carried out by me as the vehicle was completely standard when I bought it.

Before I bought the car it had 2 top plates replaced, the passenger’s side front wing replaced (with a good second hand ford item) and a small repair to the lower part of the passengers side rear arch. The top plates have been fitted very well in terms of strength and lining up. They don’t look bad and haven’t just been put over the original ones like some i’ve seen (ouch). The car has been re-painted, but the original purple velvet colour was used. It’s not a mint paint job (i’m really fussy though!) but certainly very tidy and above average compared to most of these old escorts. It certainly looks the part and turns heads.

Other than the stated repairs, the car is mint. The chassis and floor pans are the best i’ve ever seen on a mark 1 escort and the boot wells are also in the same condition. The inner wings (excluding top plates) are mint including the drip rails and the anti roll bar mount areas. A-Panels are mint, sills are mint. Basically the car is like new everywhere (rust wise) apart from the mentioned repairs.

The car has a few months tax and mot left and over half a tank of Shell V-Power. So just insure it and drive it home! I’ve driven a few motorway journeys in it and it’s great. No over-heating or anything like that. Just a really good all round, useable car.

I have all the reciepts, past paperwork and mots. Basically a folder full of stuff and a few spares like the original front bumper etc.

Im looking to get £6000 for it and I’m in no rush to sell. It owes me more than this in parts and you couldn’t build one for this money with such a clean shell if you built all by yourself.
