Gearbox issue

Yesterday I started my daily for the first time after the resto. I let it run for a while to make sure there are no leaks and the thermostat opens etc.

 

Whilst keeping an eye on the temperature gauge, i noticed the speedo at about 20mph.. There's no prop currently in the car, and had a look underneath and sure thing saw the tail of the gearbox rotate..

 

The gears go in fine, and pressing the clutch the speedo goes to 0. the odd thing is that on free the gearbox is engaging itself somehow.

 

any ideas what might be wrong?

Just seems like natural drag in the gearbox .Normally with the prop on and connected there is a permanent resistance which stops this happening.
