advice on timing, carbs, ignition :)

With the timing I can set it so the car starts bang on the money but will splutter when running .. Or it'll struggle to start but runs a dream!!

 

I've ordered a better starter motor due to mine sticking but that's not the issue.

 

Running the accusparks elec ignition which I duno If that's the issue, I had bestek fitted by previous owner before it broke which had an advance (non vac) setting and never had an issue.

 

Not sure how the advance works etc and if it's the issue or not. Or could I get it sorted on a rolling road set up with my accuspark set up?

I have just fitted a Bestek set up to my Pinto with bike carbs, no vacuum.

 

I was advised by Jon (Bestek) to set my timing to 10* at 1000rpm.  Did this with my strobe gun and to be fair, it seems to be bang on with the limited drive I gave it.
