72mk1escort Posted March 18, 2015 Report Share Posted March 18, 2015 Here we have an all original Ford Cortina MK5 2.0 GL Estate it has been standing since 1996 so needs a full restoration. The engine turns over freely but we have not had it running as it is missing the earth cable to the battery also the master cylinder is missing (this was the reason it was laid up almost 20 years ago) It never got repaired. The car is very complete and very original except for the wheels which are a period accessory the speedo reads 55,000 miles on the clock which we was told by the previous owner is genuine mileage. Obviously it needs a full restoration the interior needs to be taken out and valeted as do the carpets and interior trim etc but were pretty sure it will come up to a fair standard with some elbow grease. There is rust around the offside front bonnet hinge mount area which needs welding. doubtless this car will need welding in other places i just have not got the time to devote to it and would hate to see it get scrapped. The car rolls freely and the handbrake works and the clutch is not stuck as we checked this when towing it.
