nigelghia571 Posted October 22, 2015 Report Posted October 22, 2015 Help needed again please. 03/81 Mk5 2.0 Cortina Have a slight leak of fluid between M/C and Servo. I understand there are 2 types of M/C that could have been fitted - Girling and Bendix. What are the differences and how can I identify which one is fitted? Thanks aging for any indications.
Danish Posted October 25, 2015 Report Posted October 25, 2015 The spacing between the two bolt holes (where it attaches to the servo) are different. Here is the wrong servo on my Mk5 - the bolt spacing is different by quite a lot But otherwise they're quite similar: However, I couldn't say with confidence which is Bendix and which is Girling
nigelghia571 Posted November 11, 2015 Author Report Posted November 11, 2015 Thanks for the reply. I will measure the bolt centres on my Master Cylinder. It looks like you have managed to get a new master cylinder??
Danish Posted November 11, 2015 Report Posted November 11, 2015 No, I could only find the smaller one, so cleaned up the old one.
nigelghia571 Posted November 16, 2015 Author Report Posted November 16, 2015 Measured mine. The bolt holes are 3 1/4 " spacing. Missed one this weekend at the NEC as I wasnt sure of the bolt spacings. Turneed out it would have been the correct one. Where did tyo get the smaller one from?
Danish Posted November 17, 2015 Report Posted November 17, 2015 Just some guy on ebay. Something like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271787041920 But you can get both types at Old Part Store: http://www.oldpartstore.net/shop/2597-glovebox-lid-l-gt-model.html << looks like wrong URL but is correct http://www.oldpartstore.net/shop/2621-brake-master-cylinder-girling-3-port-type.html Really, I should get off my bum and get a new one myself while they're available...
nigelghia571 Posted January 13, 2016 Author Report Posted January 13, 2016 Just coming to do this job soon. How difficult is it to remove/replace the Reservoir? The plastic looks fragile!!!
SmokeEm Posted January 13, 2016 Report Posted January 13, 2016 Its a doddle. Just prise out gently. Bleeding the brakes after is more difficult than changing the M/C itself IMHO.
nigelghia571 Posted January 20, 2016 Author Report Posted January 20, 2016 Thanks What's difficult about bleeding the brakes afterwards?
