bigdaz27 Posted December 9, 2015 Report Posted December 9, 2015 Just got to work and my front brakes were vibrating a little, anyway I took a look and one of the bolts that hold the front calipers on has came out, I need to no what thread it is and how long asap so I can sort it before I drive home
John escort mk1V6 Posted December 9, 2015 Report Posted December 9, 2015 Hi bigdaz maybe if you tell what kind of ford you drive may be some one can tell you what you need. It will be a special bolt that wil have no full dread but it will be wider under the head , but for now you can use a normal bolt. About the dread i can`t tell you much , there are different kind of tread bolts that are bening used. Good luck.
mk2 tony Posted December 9, 2015 Report Posted December 9, 2015 i would of thought the caliper will be held on with two bolts can you remove the other to get the dimensions you need ?
bigdaz27 Posted December 9, 2015 Author Report Posted December 9, 2015 Sorry I was in s bit of a panic, it's a mk2 Granada I had no tools otherwise I would taken another one out, I managed to borrow a 19mm spanner take a bolt out and luckily I work near Oxford bolts and bearings and they had one the same thread and hardness but not shouldered but it will be ok for a while, not shore of its important that it's shouldered or not tho ? It's m12 X 1.5 so shouldn't be to hard to get the right sort, my own bloody fault I must of forgotten to fold the security tabs up,
mk2 tony Posted December 9, 2015 Report Posted December 9, 2015 yea it will need to be shouldered to keep the same shear strength glad you got it going ok tho
bigdaz27 Posted December 9, 2015 Author Report Posted December 9, 2015 Ok cool, but they will be safe with normal driving, when I get time I'll take a look in the local scrap yard,
John escort mk1V6 Posted December 10, 2015 Report Posted December 10, 2015 I think that you can use the bolts from a cortina mk3/4 , we call theme Taunus tc1/2/3 , also you can look for an escort mk2. Capri bolts have different dread.
