bigdaz27 Posted January 11, 2016 Report Posted January 11, 2016 Ok I rebuilt the carb on the Granada and have been chasing a misfire ever since, I've changed the plugs leads dizzy cap roator as they needed changing anyway, but no difference, I'm starting to go mad please help, here's one of the new plugs after about 20miles I'm thinking it looks a bit lean ?
ianb10 Posted January 11, 2016 Report Posted January 11, 2016 Looks very lean to me, should be a biscuit colour to be running right.
bigdaz27 Posted January 11, 2016 Author Report Posted January 11, 2016 That's what I thought, I must have a leak somewhere I've been going out of my mind all weekend trying to find it
ianb10 Posted January 11, 2016 Report Posted January 11, 2016 Did you remove the carb when you rebuilt it, if so get a paint brush with some fuel and brush around the bottom of the carb with the engine running, if the engine note rises then you have found the leak.
mk1del Posted January 11, 2016 Report Posted January 11, 2016 Have you checked the inlet manifold gasket, also make sure carb base gasket ok, if pulling air in somewhere will run lean and misfire
bigdaz27 Posted January 12, 2016 Author Report Posted January 12, 2016 I've got a horrible feeling it's leaking from the throttle spindles so unless anyone has any bright ideas I'm guessing I need a new carb
bigdaz27 Posted January 12, 2016 Author Report Posted January 12, 2016 Ok so it only misfired when it got to operating temp so i came to the conclusion it must be fuel, there was a blockage in the main jet circuit and reset the float and bag she drives bloody lovely even does burnouts lol
