The Classic Ford April 2017 issue has hit the newsstands and is available to download right now, and inside we celebrate the art of building a manic street sleeper – and a whole lot more!

Most people like surprises – the nice ones like an receiving unexpected gift or an unannounced holiday. But by contrast, most people who drive modern so-called performance cars definitely don’t like the surprise of being caught unawares by a classic Ford hiding something interesting under the bonnet – even more so when it’s at Santa Pod and there’s a large crowd to witness the humiliation.

We’d like to think the word sleeper was invented for classic Fords — no other marque arguably lends itself quite so well to the wolf in sheep’s clothing look. The Fiesta Popular Plus, Granada L, Escort Ghia… they’re all shopper-spec — or are they?

This issue’s dedicated to the art of the sleeper — of building cars with a secret. We’ve given you a few tips to get started with our build guide, but the real lessons come from the four examples featured. Never has the phrase ‘Don’t judge a book by its cover’ been more apt.

Plus inside Classic Ford April 2017 we profile the awesome Andy Rouse, give you the lowdown on buying a Mk3 Transit, reveal the ins and outs of tuning Ford’s 1600 EcoBoost engine, and show you how to replace wheel bearings.

Hi CF,

I'm considering subscribing for 1 year, there's no discount's for overseas subscribers, just the standard full 81pound price.

There's a discount promo for UK subscribers of 18% off, plus promo products as well.

Anything you can do for us poor unfortunates that don't live in the UK?
