Shaun74 Posted October 7, 2018 Report Posted October 7, 2018 Hi everyone I will soon own a mk3 cortina pickup and would like to put a v6 in her. Think I would like the v6 duratec 3.0 ( mondeo v6 ). But not sure what gearbox would be best. It was a 1.6 originally but not sure of the gearbox. The 5 speed type 9 Sierra v6 box would be good I’m thinking. Is this possible? Or is there a better gearbox to use? Don’t want to cut or bend the tunnel in anyway. Happy to make anything to fit it all (bracket). Looking for your ideas. Cheers
deltamal Posted October 8, 2018 Report Posted October 8, 2018 I've been using a standard type 9 box with a 2.9 tweaked Cologne V6 (196 @ the wheels) for 5 years now with no probs, I did fit an aluminium bracing plate to replace the standard pressed steel one on the top of the box and a quickshift lever.
Shaun74 Posted October 9, 2018 Author Report Posted October 9, 2018 2.0 type 9 standard box ? Been looking into the Ford v6 and jaguars v6. The s type is rwd so thinking. Could the jaguar engine and gearbox be the best route.
