butler2.8i Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 I`m getting some welding done to the floor of my capri tomorrow whats the best paint to use on inside floor pan after its done ???
Durham Fiesta Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 anti rust primer and then something along the lines of hammerite should do the job
flyingbanana Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 ame has above but put some zinc primmer on b4 the hammerite
butler2.8i Posted March 5, 2007 Author Report Posted March 5, 2007 Is zinc primer the same as etch primer ???
flyingbanana Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 Is zinc primer the same as etch primer ??? yes i think so
Tom Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 no mate, zinc primer is commonly known as weld - thru primer. you put it inside sections where you won't be able to get to after welding. etch primer is for putting on bare metal as it adheres to the metal better than normal primer and is the best base coat before normal primer. for your floor i'd use a rust preventative then some hammerite. don't bother using zinc or etch primer as its expensive and you dont really need it
butler2.8i Posted March 5, 2007 Author Report Posted March 5, 2007 Is it ok to just put underseal underneath on the welds or do is it need painting first ???
Tom Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 i'd use seam sealer first then primer then underseal mate
