Sorry I ain't been on for a while guys, been busy and all that. I've kept looking in on the site occasionally.

I've finally got round to taking the engine out the car as it's going for a respray on 24th of this month.

I've always known the engine would want some work, so it's out and totally took to bits. It's going to need, new big valves, so while I'm at it have hardened seats put in. It needs new tappit rockers, and while its getting done, pressure tested.

So where is the best place to send it to have it sorted. And what kind of price am i looking at.

I'm in no immediate rush as the paint shop may have the car for a few months.

TIA.

Nice to see you about. :-)

What was the engine and current spec again, please?

Hiya dt mate, thanks. 👍

2.1 pinto, big valve, RL21 cam, which needs a more road friendlier one putting in as it needs changing anyway. I know you suggested a cam last time mate.

I've just been looking at a new head from Burton, at £745. 🤔

Cheers.

Cost me about £20 to courier my head to Vulcan Engineering.  I had it completely reworked with porting, valves, stem guides and a Kent FR30 fitted. Came to about £1100 ish all in.

Service and customer support was second to none and Steve was really helpful with advice over the phone to meet my driving style/needs.  If I was to get another head done, I would use them again.

Thanks for that bud.

I suppose when you look at it, whether I buy a new head, fit a new cam and rockers I might be up to that kind of figure of yours. So might aswell send my unit to vulcan.

Exactly.  Cam kit is around £370 mark.
